Impact Fight Leauge: MAYhem at the Palace Review (Press Release)

Large Crowd Gets a Kick out of MAYhem at the Palace.

Another fantastic night of mixed martial arts for Donofrio Entertainment was held on Saturday, May 7, as thousands packed The Palace of Auburn Hills for “MAYhem at the Palace.”

In the sensational main event to determine the true #1 amateur Light-Heavyweight in the State of Michigan, Shamir Garcia (14-2), broke down and stopped Lee Trombley (7-4) at 0:45 of the third round of a scheduled five round bout.

Garcia, who successfully defended his Impact Fight League Light-Heavyweight Championship in the process, stayed careful in the stand-up with the heavily muscled Trombley and began finding his range with kicks to the legs and body midway through the second round. Near the end of the second frame, Garcia caught Trombley with a strong kick to the right side of the ribs, drawing a gasp from the crowd and forcing Trombley to wince.

In the third round, Garcia turned in a series of leg kicks that first visibly injured Trombley and then brought him to the ground where he was finished with hammer fists.

In the main supporting bout, Mark Christiansen won the Impact Fight League Lightweight Title by choking out a gassed Rick Morais at 1:57 of the second round.

Christiansen won the title the hard way, by walking through the hellacious fire of Morais and somehow fought through the challenge. Halfway through round two, Morais had literally gotten tired of hitting Chrisiansen. Seeing an opening, the technically superior Christiansen took things to the ground where he quickly secured the fight winning rear-naked choke.

In the night’s other title fights, Joel “Little Juggernaut” Chapman finished his amateur career by scoring a quick knockout victory over mohawked warrior Nathan Long at 0:52 of the first round. Tony Zelinski won the Bantamweight Title by TKO at 1:39 of the 4th round against Johathan Walker and Mikey Galanos won the Strawweight Title by decision against Kirk Moore.

Donofrio Entertainment has become the breakaway star when it comes to MMA shows in the Midwest and especially Michigan. The Palace shows are now a must-see for real fans of the sport. Promoter and Donofrio Entertainment chief, Joseph “Fight Boss” Donofrio, has worked hard to build his empire and the thousands who flock to his shows are glad he did. Saturday night was no exception.
